Apple has officially announced that Tim Cook will step down as CEO in September 2026. The update came through Apple’s newsroom, marking a major leadership transition for the company.
Cook will move into the Executive Chairman role to support long-term strategy. In his place, John Ternus, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will take over as CEO.
Cook succeeded Steve Jobs in 2011 and led Apple through massive expansion. Under his leadership, Apple launched products like Apple Watch and AirPods while reaching record market value.
In a statement, Cook called his time as CEO “the greatest privilege of my life.” His transition ensures continuity while opening the door for new leadership.
