Apple’s September 2026 event delivered one of the company’s most interesting product lineups in years.
The biggest surprise was the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone. But that wasn’t all. Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5.
Software also played a major role, with iOS 27 and the new Siri AI experience arriving later this month.
Here’s a complete look at the biggest announcements from the Apple September 2026 event and what they mean for Apple users.
iPhone Duo Is Apple’s First Foldable iPhone
The biggest announcement of the event was undoubtedly the iPhone Duo.
After years of rumors surrounding a foldable iPhone, Apple has finally entered the foldable smartphone market.
The iPhone Duo has a 5.4-inch outer display that works like a traditional iPhone screen. Open the device and it reveals a much larger 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display designed for videos, gaming, reading and multitasking.
Both displays support ProMotion and can reach up to 3,000 nits of outdoor brightness. Apple has also added a nano-texture finish to the inner display to reduce glare and make the fold more comfortable to use.
The larger screen also changes how iOS works. Apple has optimized iOS 27 for the folding design, making it easier to work with multiple apps on the screen.
Apple Pencil support is also coming to the iPhone Duo later this year, making the device feel closer to a compact iPad when opened.
Under the hood, the Duo uses Apple’s new A20 Pro chip.
The iPhone Duo will be available in Star White and Night Sky, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 2TB.
However, Apple’s first foldable comes with a serious price tag.
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999. Preorders begin October 16, and the phone officially goes on sale October 23.
iPhone 18 Pro Gets a Big Camera Upgrade
Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The overall design remains familiar, but Apple has made some important changes to the camera system and internal hardware.
The biggest upgrade is a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture.
Instead of depending entirely on software to control depth and exposure, the new camera can physically change its aperture. Apple is also adding more manual camera controls, giving photographers and video creators greater control over settings such as focus, shutter speed and white balance.
Apple has also made the Dynamic Island smaller, while allowing it to display more information at once.
Both Pro models are powered by the A20 Pro chip and use a next-generation vapor chamber designed to maintain better performance during demanding tasks such as gaming, video editing and AI processing.
There is a price increase this year.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299. Both models now start with 256GB of storage and can be configured with up to 2TB.
Preorders begin September 12, with availability starting September 18.
Apple Didn’t Announce a Regular iPhone 18
One of the most interesting parts of Apple’s event was actually a product that never appeared.
Apple did not announce a standard iPhone 18.
Instead, the company focused on the premium iPhone 18 Pro lineup and the new foldable iPhone Duo.
That makes Apple’s 2026 iPhone strategy very different from previous years, when the standard and Pro models normally launched together.
For buyers who usually choose the less expensive regular iPhone, Apple’s decision means the current lineup looks much more focused on premium devices.
Apple Watch Series 12 Focuses on Health
The Apple Watch Series 12 received some of the biggest health upgrades of this year’s event.
Apple introduced a new Health Sensing System powered by its S11 chip.
The watch can now take heart-rate measurements more frequently throughout the day and collect heart-rate variability data more often.
One of the most useful additions is a new Readiness score.
The feature looks at factors such as sleep, activity, training load and health data to give users an idea of how prepared their body is for exercise or the day ahead.
Apple is also redesigning parts of the Health app, including a new Longevity section and Health Age feature.
The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at $399 and will be available beginning September 18.
Apple Watch Ultra 4 Gets Better Battery Life
Apple also refreshed its rugged smartwatch with the Apple Watch Ultra 4.
It includes the same new Health Sensing System and S11 processor found in the Series 12, along with the new Readiness feature and improved heart-rate monitoring.
Battery life remains one of the Ultra’s biggest advantages.
Apple says the Ultra 4 can deliver up to 50 hours of normal use or as much as 84 hours in Low Power Mode. A new extended workout mode can track supported outdoor activities for up to 45 hours.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at $799 and will be available September 18.
AirPods 5 Bring Better ANC for $129
Apple’s regular AirPods also received a major update.
The new AirPods 5 feature an updated acoustic design, improved Adaptive EQ and stronger Active Noise Cancellation.
Apple claims the new open-ear ANC system can reduce up to 50 percent more external noise than AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation.
Battery life has improved as well, reaching up to five hours with ANC enabled.
AirPods 5 also support features such as Live Translation and deeper integration with Siri AI.
Pricing starts at $129.
A $149 version adds a wireless charging case and additional features. Both versions are available for preorder now and arrive in stores September 18.
iOS 27 and Siri AI Arrive September 14
Apple’s new hardware isn’t the only important announcement.
iOS 27 will be released on September 14 as a free software update.
The headline feature is Apple’s long-awaited Siri AI upgrade.
The redesigned Siri is built to better understand personal context, answer broader questions and work with information already available across a user’s Apple devices.
Siri AI will initially launch as a beta in English, with additional languages including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish expected in October.
Apple Intelligence will also become increasingly important across the iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods ecosystem.
VerdictByte Take: This Was More Than Another iPhone Launch
Apple’s September 2026 event felt different from the company’s usual yearly iPhone refresh.
The iPhone Duo is easily the headline product.
Apple entering the foldable market could also increase competition with Samsung, Google and other companies that have spent years developing foldable phones.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro is becoming increasingly focused on photography and professional video, while the Apple Watch continues its move toward deeper health and fitness tracking.
AirPods 5 may be the quieter announcement of the event, but bringing improved ANC to a $129 pair of AirPods could make them one of the most popular products Apple announced.
There is also a bigger story developing across all of these devices: Apple Intelligence and Siri AI are becoming part of almost every major Apple product.
Still, the biggest question may be whether customers are ready for Apple’s new pricing.
The iPhone 18 Pro now starts at $1,199, and anyone wanting Apple’s first foldable iPhone will need to spend at least $1,999.
Apple finally has a foldable.
Now it has to convince people that the iPhone Duo is worth nearly $2,000.
