Apple’s three-day product extravaganza culminated on a high note today with the announcement of a massive refresh of the company’s computing lineup. After the iPhone 17e and M4 iPad Air debuted on day one, Apple has now revealed the next generation of Mac hardware centered around the introduction of the new M5 series chips.
Instead of a traditional keynote event, Apple is revealing these products through a series of “Special Experience” announcements, which will be followed by hands-on media sessions in New York, London, and Shanghai tomorrow.
Powerful M5 MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max
The MacBook Pro lineup expands the performance frontier with the new 14-inch and 16-inch models featuring major upgrades inside. Besides the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are fabricated on a refined 3nm process, Apple launched the new “Fusion Architecture” with “super cores” as a significant architectural improvement.
- Performance: The company pitches up to 30% faster CPU performance and up to 4x faster AI processing lines over the previous generation.
- Storage & Memory: Surprisingly, Apple has set double the minimum storage capacity for the new MacBook Pro. Therefore the entry-level machines come with 1TB of SSD and 24GB of unified memory.
- Connectivity: Both Plus models are now equipped with Thunderbolt 5 standard, which enables data transfer at speeds of up to 120Gbps, coupled with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
- Battery Life: The 16-inch version boasts a record-setting battery life of 24 hours.

Versatile MacBook Air M5
The world’s most popular laptop has also been reinvigorated with new features. The design still showcases the same slim, fanless aluminum chassis, but changing to the M5 chip gives you a 10-core GPU plus advanced “Neural Accelerators” for Apple’s AI-related tasks. Similar to the Pro models, the Air model price drop for the storage device has also been lifted, and the basic one now starts with 512GB for a cost of $1, 099.
Professional Displays: Studio Display XDR
Apple has at long last confronted the problem of its outdated monitor lineup with two new releases:
- Studio Display 2 A 27-inch 5K display that includes a brightness upgrade and a 12MP Center Stage camera
- Studio Display XDR A high-end Pro Display XDR successor, equipped with mini-LED technology, a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, and, first time ever, a Pro Stand that comes with the box, free of charge

Next Up? “MacBook Neo”
The rumor mill is really on fire for what might happen on March 4. A regulatory leak on Apple’s own site briefly showed a “MacBook Neo”, said to be an ultra-low-cost, stylish 12-inch laptop with a price tag around $599, $799, and primarily targeted at the education market.
“This is the most aggressive Apple spring launch we have seen in a few years, ” an industry analyst remarked. “Doubling the base storage and ramping up the M5 series so fast clearly demonstrate that they are putting the power of local processing at the forefront of Apple Intelligence’s next phase.”
Availability: Pre-orders for all today’s products will start on Wednesday, March 4, with the first units coming out to the market on March 11.
